Special Occupancies and Operations in the Fire Code

August 17 @ 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

Instructor: Barbara Rice Description: This focused, one-day course explores the unique fire and life-safety challenges presented by high-risk uses regulated in the International Fire Code. Participants examine requirements for hazardous materials, high-piled storage, industrial processes, assembly uses, special amusement buildings, laboratories, and other non-standard occupancies and operations that demand elevated scrutiny during plan review and inspections. Through case studies, code-driven analysis, and practical application exercises, attendees learn how to identify critical risk factors, apply IFC chapters and referenced standards effectively, and coordinate enforcement strategies that ensure safe design, operation, and emergency response readiness across complex or specialized facilities.
